Fall 2019 | News & Updates
Summer-Fall 2019 has marked significant progress in the work of spreading the word that a confessional, Reformed Baptist church has been planted in the BC Lower Mainland. We’ve seen visitors and regular attendees from all over, including as far as downtown Vancouver and Richmond (this, in addition, to other attendees or members from Langley, Delta, North Surrey, White Rock / South Surrey, and Washington State).
While visitors find out about Surrey Reformed Baptist Church (SRBC) in a variety of ways, part of our Getting the Word Out campaign has involved distribution of Invitation flyers. To date, two campaigns have been created to spread the word that Sunday services and a Tuesday night Prayer & Bible Study takes place weekly at Rosemary Heights Elementary School where we meet.
Thanks to the willingness of God’s people to participate in this work, Campaign #1 has been completed, and Campaign #2 is in the very final stages! In this way, they’ve been fellow workers for the truth (see 3 John 8). This marks the completion of Getting the Word Out to the immediate radius of SRBC. Another 2,500 flyers have been ordered to facilitate the launch of Campaign #3 as we work our way out. Let’s keep the momentum going!
We’re confident that whatever the response, the Lord is glorified by this work as we seek to be ambassadors for Him and invite people to come and hear the Gospel. This is so important because of what we read in Romans 10 verse 17: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
We trust that the Lord will use this to bring His people in to be strengthened in their Christian walk and equipped to be lights in this dark world, while unbelievers will hear the wonderful Gospel of salvation and look to Christ in faith. It’s encouraging to remember that God has promised that His word will not return to Him void (Isaiah 55:10-11). Salvation is His sovereign work (Matthew 16:17; John 1:13), but He chooses to use weak instruments to fulfill His work (Exodus 4:10-12; Jeremiah 1:6-7; Ephesians 3:8). The glory then goes to Him, and not to us!
